Isabel-Astor Center
Today was a tasty day I must say. The older girls went to the Astor Center to cook a healthy meal where we were all in for a pleasant surprise. The task at hand was Couscous showered in tomato paste and vegetable oil, baked Turnips, Pita Bread with Hummus accompanied with a simple green salad. All of the groups had different duties; some of us cut the onions into tiny- squared pieces, or washed the vegetables and salad greens, while the rest would make sure the space remained clean. After the hard work each and everyone put into the meal, we finally got to sit down and enjoy the lovely atmosphere. Great food, amiable companionship, today was a good day.

Set Adrift on Memory Bliss
This is Isabel reporting from the Bioneers conference. Today I didn’t quite get to sit through a session or any of the plenaries because I was working on my digital storytelling piece. As I mentioned in my previous blog, Renée and I are putting together a one-minute piece that will help define the ways activism could be pursued. Through this video we will hope to capture the true essence of what activism is all about because it plays a major role in the change that will shape what our future will be like.
Since we interviewed both Erica Fernandez and Kavita Ramdas, we are going to conglomerate the information of both interviews in order to encompass them in certain areas of our video. I worked on this project, and the rest of the time I was smiling because I was just thrilled at this new experience that I had taken part of. I haven’t quite done something like this in my life, and I realized that I like the process of interviewing interesting people, and helping them get their message out by creating stories. I really do! I’m having fun in the process and I am learning and slowly discovering things that I enjoy, and other ways where I can make my voice be heard. Digital storytelling is absolutely a way to get your voice out. I am grateful for this experience and I wouldn’t mind doing coming to Bioneers and doing digital storytelling again.
