Today the Girls Club had an amazing opportunity to spend a day with the female lawyers of the Shearman & Sterling Law Firm. Throughout our incredible day, the many successful lawyers shared their fantastic journeys that led them to end up at the law firm. Many of them told us how the law firm had opened doors to visit other countries; an experience many had never experienced before. In addition, most of us, perhaps for the first time, got to participate first hand the experience of a mock Congressional Hearing. It brought about the Scooter Protection and Revitalization of the Economy and Employment Act of 2009 also known as the Spree Act. The hearing was exciting and intense. Our enthusiastic and argumentative characters pleased the women at the law firm. They were more then supportive and helped us feel the comfortable atmosphere in which they work in a diverse, supportive, and loving environment. Today was an unforgettable day and could not ask for a better experience. I thank all the women who took the time out of their schedule to help this be an amazing experience for the Girls Club.
