Kimberly-Kibera
Today we had a woman named Carol-Ann, come in and show us videos of the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy inĀ Africa. She told us about how women in Kibera, Africa get treated differently than the women in the United States. One major thing that came to mind is how the women don’t have a chance to choose the right man. The parents of the the girl makes the decision for them. They can be as young as seven and be married off. In the United States, women have to be 18 or older to get married and they can choose their husband. Most of the time, the women don’t even see their husbands only the day they get married. Another major thing was, Carol-Ann told us how the girls get raped a lot. I feel bad for the women and girls living in Africa because of the way they are treated daily. We also learned about the women who live in Kibera that get AIDS because it is passed on to them from their sexual partner. I think this isn’t right because, all women should get treated equally and not like slaves.
If I was one of those girls in Kibera, Africa, I wouldn’t know what to do. One way to try and help them if I did live over there would be to get myself active in every way and when people come over to visit I would the first one speaking to them.

Kimberly-Food Inc.
We took a trip to the movies to go Food, Inc. The movie tells people about the way animals are killed to make the meat we eat on a daily basis. The part that stuck out to me was when they showed how they killed chickens. They have factories were they kept all the chickens. There are even steps to killing chickens.
Step 1:: Pull their heads off
Step 2:: Cut off their feet and hands.
I don’t wanna say anything more, it makes you not want to see the movie!
I didn’t like the movie at all. Just by looking at what they do to the poor animals makes me want to stop eating burgers and chicken or any type of meat. But it’s going to be hard to just stop eating meat out of nowhere.
The thing I am going to do different is try to lessen my desire for meat. Why?? Because once I saw what they were doing to the animals, I didn’t want to hurt anymore animals. I’m not going to turn into a vegetarian, but I will be careful in choosing the things that I eat.
