INTERVIEW WITH LAURIE

WHAT DOES CONEY ISLAND MEAN TO YOU?

It's a Family Affair. Laurie follows her grandmother, mother, father, and uncle in the grand tradition of family run businesses in Coney island. The Robert's family opened the Gold Mine souvenir stand in Feltman's in 1955. Today, her family has stalls on Jones Walk and the Bowery. Laurie runs the Water Race Game on the Bowery. She has been there for 20 summer seasons. Stop by to play the game and say "Hello". With development plans continuing, the future is uncertain for the family run businesses in Coney island.
