EAST FIRST STREET BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND AVENUE
WHO LIVES ON THIS BLOCK?
On October 10, 2007, the Geo Girls went out on our second exploration of the Lower East Side. This time we were on our very own block, east 1st street between 1st and 2nd Aves. We had a wonderful opportunity to meet Maria, a mother, and her little boy who lived on 1st street for fifteen years. We were glad to hear her own perspective on the changes through the years. One of the things she mentioned was how the block was a lot greener and now all we seem to have is construction and sky scrapers.
